{Baby Shower}

Angel Swanson. How do I describe someone so wonderfully awesome? I have known her for less than a year, but someone I hope to have in my life forever. She makes me smile. Maybe it is because she is so incredibly calm, or maybe it is because she is able to stay calm while creating the most beautiful of things. Maybe its the vintage dresses that she rocks like no other, or the amazing hair pieces that look like they were made just for her? It must just be a combination of all of these things that make me smile when I see her, or even as I sit here writing about her. She is rad, and I need not try to explain why. She just is.

I mean look at this amazing baby shower that she threw for her bestie….she made my things look pretty awesome….I must say!

These beautiful pictures were taken by Trista Lerit

Never really knew how I would use the ironing boards that I just had to have 3 of! But what better way than at a baby shower! So cute!

I miss my little monkeys being in clothes this small. Now Bailey (9 years old) asks if she can borrow my clothes. Of course I say yes! I’m stoked that she thinks my clothes are “cool”!

I am beyond thrilled that Angel that found was a part of this precious baby shower! Thanks Angel!

{Hitched}

It would be next to impossible to describe how super cool a Hitched event is. Pictures have been all over the blogs for weeks showing the wonderful time that was had at The Ace in Palm Springs that wonderful evening. I never get sick of reliving the evening through photographs….hence the reason I am posting on my own blog some pretties from the evening…

My heart melts for the amazing Bash, Please girls and the fantastical Urbanic wonder who put it all together…aren’t they lovely?

There were so many wonderful pictures taken…..here are just a few….credit given under each picture.

We were so excited to bring a few lounge areas to the shindig. Our Fox Grey Settee, Marie Claire Green Chair, and Angela Orange Chair enjoyed the party.

The Heathrow Grey Couch, new-to-us Orange mid-century chairs, and Kantha bench created a fitting lounge out by the pool.

We were stoked that Ashley Meaders and Honey & Poppies used our Coolidge Farm Table along with mismatched dining chairs in their tabletop design. Loved their amazing chandeliers!

944 Magazine

When Carissa from JL Designs called and said she was working on a tabletop for 944 magazine, I don’t think we even let her finish her sentence before saying “Yes!”

Carissa is uber talented, & of course we would want to be involved with anything she was working on. I don’t think my table has ever looked so good ;)

The cover of the magazine…

And the final pages of the magazine. I Love seeing one of my pieces of my furniture in a magazine :)

Thanks Carissa for dressing my table up so beautifully, & thanks 944 for being such an incredibly awesome magazine!

More…Hide & Seek

When Allison suggested the idea of a “workshop” I was absolutely against it. It’s just not my thing. I am not good at public speaking, I’m not one to act like I have all the answers, and I really don’t feel comfortable in the “spotlight.” But, with all of the inquiries we were getting from all over the country, it was a great opportunity for us to share the ends and outs of the vintage rental business….as I have definitely learned a lot this past year so why not share it with others that have my same passion. And so it was born….Hide & Seek….

We wanted everyone to get to know each other over before we started the workshop, So I set up a little table for us to enjoy breakfast while we chatted about our love for junkin :)

Joel’s shooting room was converted into the “classroom.”

As you can see, I get really excited when talking about this crazy love of mine….Sometimes using your hands is the only way to explain things with the kind of intensity it needs. Right?

Rhoda and Anna of Loot Vintage Rentals based out of Austin, Texas. So sweet! Partners/Sister-in-laws that are going to be wonderfully successful, I just know it. Don’t miss their perspective on Hide & Seek.

Erin has a fantastic blog that you must check out. She’s quirky and fun and excited to get workin on her own style in the great city of Chicago. I’m so anxious to watch her business grow. Thanks Carissa for telling Erin about our workshop….she was a pleasure to have!

Allison’s mom, Jane, spoiled us rotten! She made us the most amazing breakfast, with all kinds of yumminess. Lunch was just as fantastic- complete with grilled paninis and a delicious salad. Only the best for our Hide & Seek Attendees!

Yes, those are apples! And they were warm! AH-mazing!

Everything that they will need to know (well, at least what could be put down on paper)….we put in a book to take home with them.

And the teaching begins….We wanted everyone to feel cozy so we sat in the round on some of my comfy chairs….and got to work.

Brandy from Nashville. So sweet, so sincere and so wonderful. I am so happy that she made the trip out. I know her head is spinning with ideas, but from what she told me about her ideas, I know she will be extraordinary! Can’t wait to see them come to life!

Amy is planning to bring vintage rentals to the San Francisco. Stay tuned for news of her adventures and vision for vintage celebrations in the Bay area!

Kelle came to Hide & Seek to grow her brand new vintage rental company in southern Oregon. Check out her distressed style at Marigold Vintage Rentals. She’ll definitely be bringing brides in the Pacific Northwest unique furniture and decor for their events.

Central California can look forward to vintage rentals from Misty. She’ll be launching her vintage rental business in Fresno soon but in the meantime you can check out her intimate destination wedding. It definitely showcases her style and personality (she’s definitely not as serious as this image makes her look :) ).

A trip to one of my favorite places. Old doors, old windows, and lots of other fantastic pieces to be drooled over.

Hard to tell from this picture, but it was 6am and still dark out….and we were just getting started at the Rose Bowl Flea Market.

Aahh, my happy place :)

The gang.

All of the images are from my fantabulous hubby (whom I didn’t even ask to come and shoot-he just did it out of the goodness of his heart). I love him.

Hide & Seek Recap

Over the weekend, we hosted our very first Hide & Seek: The Keys to Finding Something Found Workshop. With attendees from 5 different states, the workshop gave us a chance to help jump-start vintage rental businesses across the US. We are so grateful for the seven lovely women who attended and can’t thank them enough for trusting us as they begin this adventure.

Saturday began with stories of our favorite vintage finds (most involved digging through other people’s trash) and led into our morning discussions of developing a style & collection as well as the nuts and bolts of running a vintage rental business. We packed in questions, info about marketing, and lessons on becoming a savvy buyer.

With all of that info ruminating, we dove into to some buying challenges to help cement the tools our attendees had just been given. They rose to the challenge and we were so proud of the pieces they found for their growing collections.

We’re so grateful for the opportunity to share our stories with them and to hear theirs. We were humbled and pleased to meet each of our attendees. We can’t wait to see their businesses develop and flourish. They are going to do amazing things! Here are a few things they had to say about their experiences at Hide & Seek:

“You guys gave me a really good kick-start on my journey to starting my own business. I actually took a lot away from each aspect of the workshop. I’m leaving with a full brain of questions to start asking, ideas to start sorting through and plans to implement. It answered my question about having a partner and helped me hone in on my ‘style and values.'”

“My expectations were exceeded!”

“Really got me fired up, gave me a lot to think about and put a lot of my concerns at ease.”

“I don’t regret spending a dime on the workshop. It really opened my eyes to what I’m getting into.”

We’re stoked to meet the attendees for our March 5th & 6th workshop too. Get ready for a busy weekend that will get your blood flowing, your mind racing, and your business in high-gear.

Thanks to Orange County wedding photographer Joel Maus of Studio EMP for great images if the weekend.

Hide & Seek Workshop & Happy Valentine’s Day

Wow. What a weekend! We met 7 INCREDIBLE women at our Hide & Seek: The Keys to Finding Something Found Workshop. We shared ideas, swapped stories, talked about misconceptions, and helped pave the way for killer new vintage rentals businesses to pop up in 6 cities around the US. Get ready America; vintage rentals are coming your way and they are going to be rad!

We’ll share more details from the weekend tomorrow. In the meantime, if you want to join us for our next Hide & Seek Workshop, hop to it. We only have a couple spots left for March 5th & 6th (with no plans to offer another workshop in 2011). If you are starting a vintage rental business and want to learn how we did it here at Found Vintage Rentals, please apply. We’ll be closing registration for good on Friday but we may be full before then. We would love for you to join us!

On a completely different note, Happy Valentine’s Day! We love celebrating LOVE with our clients. Enjoy this image from Rachel & Albert’s wedding (with our Dean Chalkboards). We’ll share more great images from Sargeant Photography later this week.
