I couldn’t be more excited this morning to share our take on Summer ’13 in our newest look book, “Feels Like Home.” This shoot developed from my recent picking trips and additions to the collection which have inspired me in many ways. In the last several months I have not been able to get enough of the gorgeously handmade indigo fabrics that grace the pages of this look book, leather whose distressed features tell the story of its past, and pieces with an Americana vibe. “Feels Like Home” is a portrayal of what I love about summer. It is the comfy and the intimate. It’s the family gathered around the dining table and the connection of friends forgetting the time in good conversation. It is 4th of July celebrations and nights under the stars. It is a sort of comfort that can be materialized in just about any setting….weddings, parties, or intimate affairs. It is home.
I was so happy when the ladies of Intertwined asked us to be a part of this romantic shoot featuring Olivia Nelson’s lovely bridal accessory line for 2013. Jasmine Star is such a gem and her photos are incredibly gorgeous. The inspiration for the shoot called for touches of glam and vintage elements, which created a beautiful backdrop to show off Olivia Nelson’s newest collection.
I adore the way these elegant sashes stand out against the perfect patina of this dress form (one of my favorites)
Isn’t she just precious?
I was so excited to find this beverage cart! This was one of it’s first excursions out of the warehouse and it really fit this shoot wonderfully.
I love all the ways the different vintage surfaces were created into displays for a variety of accessories.
It was such an honor to partner with Operation Shower again at their LA “A Star is Born” themed shower! This is such an amazing non-profit that helps moms-to-be of military families in the midst of deployment celebrate the joy of welcoming a new one. At the party, emcee Sarah Michelle Gellar hosted the shower for 40 moms, whose spouses are deployed members of Naval Base Ventura County. I hope to take part in another fabulous celebration with Operation Shower in the future!
I am SO excited to share this post with you all! I am absolutely in love with every picutre, the design, the location, the colors…ALL of it! When Jill Le Fleur asked if we would like to be a part of Jose’s workshop again, we were ecstatic to say the least! The last workshop was absolutely beautiful and we were thrilled to have been a part of it! When Jill sent over the inspiration board for this one, I got chills. Fall is my favorite time of year and Jill did an amazing job incorporating all of the elements that epitomize the warmth and coziness of what fall is all about!
If you didn’t get a chance to see this feature on Green Wedding Shoes yesterday….You must! There are so many more great photos to check out!
I painted these large wood spools in the color palette that Jill had put together. We wanted to do something a bit different for the altar…I think it came out beautifully! I made a few lampshades out of some sweaters I picked up at a thrift store….and wrapped some of the candles with the arms and cuffs of the sweaters :) Easy and inexpensive way to spruce up some plain candles. Yes, I collect old spools of yarn and thread. I LOVE them! I had so much fun making these embroidery hoops with gray flannel, linen & felt with some pretty linen flowers…Combined with the industrial drafting table and stool, it is the perfect juxtaposition.
You might remember the sneak peak from a couple months ago…
Doesn’t it make you want to snuggle up with a cozy blanket and a good book? I would love to hear if you love it as much as I do?
If you don’t already know about Ruche, you must check them out immediately! They have the most awesome clothes, and the prices are unbelievable! I am fortunate enough to have a warehouse right by them (which I am in love with!) and I have gotten to know Mai & Josh and they are just rad people! I was stoked when they wanted to use some of my things for their latest lookbook….and I couldn’t be happier with the end result!
Super cool, right? Check them out, I’m positive you will find something that you simply can’t live without :)
It would be next to impossible to describe how super cool a Hitched event is. Pictures have been all over the blogs for weeks showing the wonderful time that was had at The Ace in Palm Springs that wonderful evening. I never get sick of reliving the evening through photographs….hence the reason I am posting on my own blog some pretties from the evening…
My heart melts for the amazing Bash, Please girls and the fantastical Urbanic wonder who put it all together…aren’t they lovely?
There were so many wonderful pictures taken…..here are just a few….credit given under each picture.
If you haven’t yet seen the Sew in Love feature in Utterly Engaged’s latest issue, you should. We’re excited to share the inspiration that we found as we collaborated on this wedding dress-centric project.
When the UE girls said “sew”, Jeni’s mind immediately started reeling with mannequins, vintage sewing tables, and notions galore. She loves anything having to do with fabric (that’s probably why she’s constantly reupholstering things) and this photo shoot was right up her alley. Bolts of fabric, dollies, vintage spools, clothespins, and a glamorous vanity vignette resulted.
The white ladders and sewing machine tables provided a crisp clean backdrop for this fashion-focused photo shoot. The gold touches in the chandeliers and King Louis chairs added the chic accents this Vanity Fair-inspired shoot required.
Aren’t the florals from JL Designs striking? And we just love the gorgeous cake from Sweet & Saucy Shop. They both rocked the old-meets-new vibe.
