City Meets Safari Inspired Shoot…

This lovely shoot came together for Caroline Tran’s photography workshop, Propel. Caroline began the workshop to blend her passion for both photography and teaching. In the workshop, she mentors on topics like building a sustainable business and establishing your own aesthetic and style. This shoot created by Lucia of Utterly Engaged and Nancy of So Happi Together provided the perfect hands-on experience for Caroline’s workshop. The two were inspired by the wildlife at Saddlerock Ranch, mixing in safari themed graphics and florals. They wanted to create a laid back yet glamorous wedding with rich textures. They created a little story to go along with the shoot: ”She’s a city girl, that has a big heart and love for Africa. He’s a southern gentlemen who loves big adventures. Consumed with love they eloped and married among their closest friends and family in an intimate celebration for twelve.” Just beautiful…

The Game of Love – Spring ’13 Look Book

We’re honoring today’s celebration of all things love over here at Found with the launch of our newest look book, The Game of Love. The Game of Love is a story of celebration, joy, love, and intimacy. Our inspiration for the shoot grew from a desire to blend the more severe tones of an industrial setting with the soft, romantic notes of Valentine’s Day. The tale that evolved was of a dinner party and game night among close friends brought alive by a number of vintage board games and beautiful couple, Sam and Sydnee. With a tablescape made absolutely elegant by Casa De Perrin, florals from Inviting Occasion, and amazing photography from Studio EMP, our idea of the perfect Valentine’s (or any other night with friends and the one you love!) came to life. This shoot was an amazing group effort and wouldn’t have been possible without such a fabulous team. We so love all those involved and hope to have our own dinner + game party with them very soon.

Some croon that love is a game and others that it is a verb. At Found, it is everything. It is the why, the who and the how and is always a story worth telling.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Rehearsal Dinner…Shakespeare in Love

We put this event/shoot together in the fall of 2010 and I still love it just as much as when we first started conceptualizing it. Here’s a short video to get started….

Found from Crescent Bay Films on Vimeo.

As told on Style Me Pretty

Join us as we tell a tale of romantic meets bohemian. Set amidst the gardens of a 1924 mansion, the inspiration for this rehearsal dinner photo shoot (conceptualized by LVL Wedding & Events, Found Rentals, Inviting Occasion, and Hitching Post PR) incorporated a love for reading and for writing. Think, a la Shakespeare.

Create a place for guests to feel comfortable, like an inviting living room. Conversations will grow beneath these gold chandeliers and around the refurbished red velvet wingback chairs, gold armchairs with grain sack upholstery and rolled arm couches. Vintage books, glass candles embraced in novel pages, antique picture frames, worn-in leather luggage, and oversized pillar candles dotted with champagne cork flowers and strung wine corks adorn the mantel while a cascade of book pages and roses flow out of the fireplace.

Design a warm and welcoming dinner atmosphere where guests can eat, drink and be merry. The goal is to have the evening less formal and save more intricate designs for the following night, while still setting the mood and keeping with the feel of the weekend. A weathered cupboard door announces the oversized menu, replacing traditional individual menu cards. You and your love can take your seats in a navy blue wingback settee at the head of the table underneath the pergola. Iron and wood architectural doors designed with hanging books that spell out a love sonnet frame the backdrop for the picture perfect event. Centerpieces were created using a Remington typewriter, deconstructed books and pages, feathers, glass orbs and a variety of Roses, Hanging Amaranthus, Poppy and Scabiosa pods, Magnolia leaves, Dinner Plate and Pom Pom Dahlias, and berries. Family and friends gather on assorted antique wooden chairs around the grey farm table where they feast under the stars served family-style on bronze and pewter pieces.

Gathering guests in an intimate, less formal environment allows them to get to know each other and connect so that when the wedding day comes, the ice is broken and they can get down to business – celebrating you and your love.

Jonathan Adler meets Vintage Baby Shower…

I am desperately trying to get back into the swing of things after basically taking the last 2 weeks off to spend with the family, but the “catching up” is taking longer than expected! I am really going to try to blog more this year, so I wanted to share this baby shower that I was so excited to see featured on On To Baby over the holidays. It was so much fun to work with Larrissa  on something a little different. Brandi, from High Society Event Plannning wanted a Jonathan Adler meets vintage vibe. This is what we came up with….

This wall art was a labor of love to say the least. Larrissa and I spent hours wrapping the paper, and the installation took an amazingly long time….but I couldn’t be more proud of the outcome…What a statement, right?

Now off to do more “catching up”….

There is so much prettiness going on at this wedding! It is always fun to work on a wedding that my hubby is shooting, and of course the wonderful floral and decor that Inviting Occassion creates is an honor to be a part of, and the grounds at The Nixon Library are absolutely gorgeous!
Happy Thursday!

Surf and Sand…

On this gloomy, overcast Friday morning, all I want to do is curl up on the couch and blare some Joni Mitchell. I am craving a little sunshine! So, I leave you with this bright and sunny styled shoot that Larrissa from Inviting Occassion and I put together. I was so excited for the feature on Wedding Chicks last week, and for the amazing photos by my better half.
When Sandy approached us to do a shoot at Surf and Sand we knew we wanted to do something different than the typical “beachy” look…So this is exactly how Larrissa described our concept:
“we knew we wanted something that that felt worldly and bohemian at the same time.  Morrocan has been done and didnt really seem to fit with the ocean front location, so we went on the hunt for a new country to inspire us. We imagined this couple who had ecclectic style, had traveled the world following the surf, and would want to incorporate different aspects of each of the surfing cultures they had visited. Bali is an amazing surf location and influences from indonesian design are relevant in the design world, especially ikat- indonesian method of dyeing fabrics that results in a very cool ethnic pattern. Jeni picked the color pallette which was genius- navy, teal and burnt orange. I scanned the travel sites for inspiring photos of Indonesian culture and to put our twist on.  I thought it might be cool to incorporate leis from the Hawaiian tradition which “Like a wedding ring, the lei is an unbroken circle that represents a couples eternal commitment and devotion to one another.”   The couple throws flowers into the ocean as a way of honoring those who couldnt share in the special day.” ~Larrissa

Larrissa is a true designer, and it is always an honor to work with her. She sent over a picture of the flags all over the beach, which I loved and wanted to put my own spin on it with the ikat fabric, and the additional larger umbrellas (yes, I sewed each of those umbrellas, and Anna sewed all of the flags :)) I couldn’t be happier with the end result, and the way Joel so perfectly captured it all!

Here’s to finding your sunshine this weekend….
