This event was extra special to me, so forgive me for the amount of photos in this post! It was hard enough to narrow it down even to just these! When Heather from LVL asked if I would wanted to design and style the opening party for the Loft on Pine in Long Beach with my dear friend Larrissa from Inviting Occassion I was over the moon! The owner of the Loft, Mary Lallande, is also a dear friend and truly an amazing person in this industry, and in life in general. She has made the Loft on amazing new venue, and it was an honor to work with so many talented people for the opening party. Larrissa and I spent days and days making all kinds of beautiful installations for this party, and I am so excited to show off the gorgeous pictures that my hubs (Studio EMP) took of the evening. Check out even more photos on 100 Layer Cake…. Larrissa and I made hundreds of strands of braided strips of vintage Kantha, and upholstery piping to hang throughout the space. Clearly, less is definitely not more in our eyes :) Larrissa also made hundreds of colorful yarn tassels that we incorporated throughout the design, like on these giant dream catchers… Larrissa also added wood beading to our upholstery piping to mimic the vintage Moroccan wedding blankets that we used in the decor. I LOVE the way they turned out! And this window display was one that I made for Joel’s studio and was so excited to use it for this party. We added some wood beading and sequins to this as well… Larrissa and I had fun setting up the backdrop for Sweet & Saucy’s dessert display… Old brick + kantha poofs + indigo pillows = heaven. Lots of colorful lounge vignettes throughout with all of my favorite textiles… And lots and lots of indigo… It was nice to cozy up the space with wall art and various pieces that are not always brought into the design for events. It adds so much… The house was packed…huge success!
This was truly a magical evening that I feel blessed to have been a part of! Thanks for making it through this whole post!
We couldn’t be happier about this collaboration with Mary from The Loft on Pine, a brand new event venue in Long Beach. We were so excited that she was willing to let us cozy up this beautiful space like we love to do. We knew it would be the perfect canvas….don’t you agree?
As a little treat, Talmadge Lowe from Pharmacie shared a recipe for these amazing cocktails. The Novelist
2 oz Honey
1 oz Lime
1/2 oz Absinthe
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker over ice and shake vigorously. Then strain into a coupe glass.
We hope that this holiday season you find beauty, inspiration and warmth.
Thank you to all of the following people who participated graciously to make this shoot all that I was hoping it to be. I respect you all immensely, and feel lucky to call you my friends:
I can’t believe its been almost a year since our big shindig at the Found warehouse last year! We had such an amazing time sharing our new space with all our event industry friends and amazing collaborators. What a busy, yet wonderful season it has been! Check out what we were up to this time last year…
I am so very excited to share this post with you all! It is a little bit different than our normal wedding and event related posts, but near and dear to my heart all the same. About 2 years ago our house was featured in Flea Market Style and shortly there after, I received an email from one of the sweetest people I have ever met, asking if I would consider decorating her house. She wanted my help bringing a little personality and coziness into her home. I was thrilled at the idea, and after meeting with her in person, I was excited to take on the project. I was given creative freedom, and after a couple months of buying and having pieces made, I installed everything over one weekend while the family went away (per my request). Joel came down a couple weeks later to take pictures of everything for me….What do you think?
I had Joel take family photos of them because I think having beautiful photos of your family up on the wall is crucial. Not only does it give your home personality, but I think it completes a warm and inviting space as well.
I have always loved decorating. Even as a little girl I was very particular about how my room was set up, what color my bedding was, and the accessories atop my dresser. Then as an adult when I started buying antiques for my own home, I realized that old pieces with history and patina can add so much character and comfort to any space. I am so thankful for this beautiful family that started out as clients, and quickly became friends. Thank you, Michelle, for welcoming me into your home, and Happy Birthday (today)!!!
Adding a few accessories is a great way to add a little life to a space. Take a look at what a difference it can make in the lounge vignettes we styled. Even adding a couple pillows or quilts to a grouping at an event is a perfect way to create a warm and inviting look.
